The most sophisticated and unrevealed treasure is the human mind. The mind is something which is quite independent and out of our span of control. It bows only before a person who excels in knowledge, strength, aspiration, and powerful potentialities. Such a person may be termed a mentor.

“Success is a journey, not a destination”.

To tread this path, which many of us have not walked through in our lifetime, we need guidance and counseling, as there are many roads which could be deceiving. So we need a person who has walked this path to show us the right way, guide us, light the way we are passing…..

Just as no stone turns itself into a great model or a statue, unless & until it is hammered & chiseled, similarly to become successful in marketing, we need a person, who could hammer us & chisel us. But the most important thing to note here is whom do you allow to chisel you? Would you choose a person who does not know the art of sculpturing to carve out a statue? Similarly, can we allow someone who has not tasted success, to talk about guiding you to success?

A mentor is a person who has excelled himself in what he is speaking, a person who is truly successful & has shown his proficiency in leading people to success.

A person gets transformed to a mentor through his meticulous knowledge, experiences, setbacks, consistency, and strong mindedness. In marketing business a mentor is someone who is ready to share the treasure of knowledge apt for the situations we are facing and who is ready to guide us.

We can liken mentors to a scanning machine. They scan our mind and bring out our latent talents. They polish it and even grind and sharpen it. The advices, guidelines, and even their actions are the outcome of the experiences they have undergone.

Mentors always talk from their heart. So any pitfalls are an unanticipated thing here. A mentor can highlight our strengths. He can show us the real path to success in marketing. 

So in my opinion, the first and foremost thing, a person entering the marketing business must do is to select an apt mentor, who has proved himself & is quite successful in this business, who can lead him through the ups & downs of this business.

As a human being, we always have a tendency to quit the business when we have to face the challenges. It’s a type of escapism. But there is no place for escapism in a mentor’s dictionary. When we are thrown into a swimming pool, we will somehow get out of it. Like this, the mentor closes all the loop holes and makes us face the challenge. We will, by ourselves find the way out. This is the way the mentor trains us to face and come out of the crisis in our marketing business. The mentor lends us a hand at the time of crisis. He is a good psycho analyst who makes us capable of surmounting the hindrance in our path.

Marketing expects lot of changes in a person. If you want to see others change, you must change first. If you stick on to your mindset without opting for change, then there is no meaning in waiting for others to change. You will be a good marketer when you are ready to change yourself and show others how it helped you. A mentor can help you change by following your own foot prints. When you change in your aspects you can observe the change in others in dealing with you. This will help you to attract people and thus build large downlines.

In my opinion in marketing business, start your day with an empty mind. Be ready to learn from the experienced. To learn, first you must be prepared to listen. To learn from the mentors, submit to the mentors fully. Listen to his sayings. You will then be successful in the marketing business.
