Everyday is the opportunity to begin again
How many times have we heard people say, “Ah! If only I had invested at that time!” Or, “He was lucky to have started that business then”. We have all heard it or said it ever so often. But we often fail to see that a few years hence ‘today’ would be talked about as,” If only I had done it then”. That is why we need to start now. Fortunately it is never too late to be what you might have been.
Opportunities keep coming. But we need to grab them at the right time. The Right time? And when is that? Today is the answer.
We all know a day lost is lost forever. A head start is always an advantage. When a new idea comes along we may or may not like it at first. But one should at least try to understand the pros and cons of the same. Outright rejection of the idea without contemplation is not a good idea!
Doubts would arise in one’s mind about the chances of success. That is only natural. One would want to discuss with one’s friends. But beware! Skeptics abound.
It is no one’s case that the path to success in marketing is a very short one strewn with flowers. We have all heard the adage,’ Rome was not built in a day’. Yes. But someone did make a start one day and Rome was indeed built. Now is the time to make the start.
You might say, “I need to do some homework before I decide”.
Certainly. But please begin your homework now.
Anyone who has worked on busy projects would have asked at one time or the other,”When do you need this particular assignment completed?” Very often the answer would have been, ”Yesterday!” The earlier you start the better it is.
Some say, ’Fear of failure is an impediment to success’. Some also say,’ There is nothing to fear but fear itself’ So shrug your fears away. One may meet with several small failures along the path to success. An obstacle should not deter one to continue and move ahead. Yes, everyday is the opportunity to begin again!
Each person has his own set of circumstances that he lives in. So it is up to the particular individual how he would act on the new idea that has come up. For example how many hours one would set aside for this purpose. Or the territory where one would work in. Or the segment of population one would work on. Essentially you are the one to decide your in-depth mode and style of working based on the broad guidelines you receive. In turn you decide on your destiny. From being a marketer of a product or a service you can move on to becoming the mentor of the marketers.
One word of caution in case you are in a full time job and want to move on to marketing full time. A certain change in outlook on the work ethos would be needed. For example one cannot expect to work at definite timings all the time. One also cannot expect to be rewarded from the first month itself. That would be unusual in most businesses anyway. Give it a reasonable time and marketing would give you reasonable returns. Dedicate more time and you would be rewarded with more returns.
